I'm going on the Rick Steves Adriatic Tour in September and arriving a couple days early. We want to rent a car. Any recommendations?

I’ve used Europcar on several trips including Slovenia and been happy with them. Their office is right in the city center near the train station. I’m sure they’re at the airport too.

We used Sixt by the rail and bus stations (about a 10 minute walk from the bus station, 20 minute walk from Prešernov trg). It was my first time renting from Sixt. The car was nice and worked well for the Julian Alps drive. The staff spoke excellent English. Easy pickup and return except there was traffic during drop off at rush hour.

I second the Eurocar recommendation. We just returned from a week in Slovenia, and our rental with them was very smooth.

We are also taking a RS tour in September, and arriving mid September. We want to rent a car for a day and drive to Logarska Dolina. Anyone has driven there? We want to take the Panoramic road, part of which is unpaved. Need advice on what kind of car to rent: electric, gas, automatic, manual, would we need a small SUV or would a compact car be ok?
