We will be traveling in mid-October from the Lakes Region of northwest Italy (Como) and want to go to spend time near the Lake Bled region of Slovenia and neighboring park region. Can you recommend any public transportation options; train, bus, whatever...? If so, how long might it take us? After Bled we want to go into Austria and ultimately travel to Munich. Any suggestions on where my wife and I can lodge or places to eat are also greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help! Doug
Lake Bled is not a convenient side trip from either Lake Como or from Florence, where you indicate ending a tour (on your other post). From Venice, the most convenient transportation to Lake Bled are by private shuttle (see www.goopti.com) or bus (see www.drd.si, 3 hours by bus from Venice Mestre station to Ljubljana, plus local connections on either end).
How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the DB train schedule link and tips for using it. The train station with the best service near to Lake Bled is Lesce Bled station. However, this site does not reflect the local line running Milan-Varenna and back (runs every two hours and takes an hour).
