We are spending 9 days in Slovenia and would like to stay on the coast for 2 nights. Any recommendations?
In September I stayed three nights in Trieste and did a daytrip to Piiran from there and then went on to Lljubljana for three more nights, Two different experiences and atmospheres when you compare Trieste and Piran. Trieste is much bigger with a definite city atmosphere. Piran is a quaint smaller town with a much more laid back atmosphere and a compact historical old town and piazza surrounded by the sea. Both are picturesque, just different. The distance from Trieste to Piran was relatively closeand an easy quick drive. We used GoOpti to drive us to and from Piran. I hope your travels include Lljubljana as it was truly beautiful. We did not go to Lake Bled but the countryside we did see in Slovenia was very attractive.
My memories of Trieste are of the things I did there, including day trips to Lipica Stud Farm and Skocjan caves. We had a car, but there are also guided day trips:

My memories of Piran are of just being there, relaxing in the square, at cafes and restaurants along the water and enjoying the view of boats sailing along outside my hotel window.
I have only been to Piran and it was a wonderful place to relax and spend a day or two. Hotel Zala was a great place to stay.
We were in Piran for 3 nights last September. It’s a great place to “take a vacation from your vacation “. In the center there is a really nice large public beach, restaurants, a walking path, some shops and a little bit of a historical area. All within walking distance. We enjoyed the beach and relaxed one day. The next day it rained so we went to Skojan Caves and Lipica Stud Farm.
Driving in the area was pretty easy. Good roads and little traffic.
