nogarsk Dolina vs. Julian Alp and Bovec

Hi All;

Would like to hear your opinion whether to go to Nogarsk Dolina or to Julian Alps and Bovec, it looks like I have to choose between them when I visit Slovenia mid September.
We are going to see lake Bled and Behind no matter what.

Thanks, Miki

I believe you are asking about Logarska dolina.

We are going to see lake Bled and Behind no matter what.

And maybe that is Bohinj?

If you will be in Slovenia in mid September, I would highly, highly, highly recommend being somewhere that allows you to go to Bohinj on Sept 17. On that date, if weather cooperates, you will be able to attend Bohinj's Cows' Ball. This is the celebration of the cows coming down to the valley from their summer mountain grazing homes to spend the winter in the valley. It is one of my favorite things I have ever done on a trip. https://tdbohinj.si/en/events/cows-ball/

As for Logarska dolina vs Julian Alps...

You are in the Julian Alps at Bled/Bohinj, both of which can work as a base for hiking. Bovec is great. It's a beautiful area with a beautiful river. The WWI museum at fairly nearby Kobarid is very good. Hiking, swimming, canoeing, rafting... lots of choices for activities! The Logarska dolina is beautiful, too... minus the river. It is less crowded than the Bovec area, but that should not really be much of an issue in September. It has the Solčava Panoramic Road. https://www.solcavska-panoramska-cesta.si/en/

I'm always reluctant to tell someone to pick one place or another. I might give the Bovec area a mild nod for beauty and Logarska dolina a mild nod for being a little further off the well-traveled tourism path in Slovenia. Both would be great and rewarding! It's better for you to decide what you want than to do what someone else advises you to do 😃.
