I am planning a trip starting in Ljubljana, Slovenia and traveling down to Dubrovnik, Croatia starting Oct. 15 - Oct. 31. I see Rick advises that many small towns shut down starting mid-October. Any updated advice on this. Will we still have a decent choice of hotels and restaurants and excursions to visit. I could skip the Julian Alps drive, but would still like to see Soca Valley. Will Rovinj, island visits, and Plitvice Lakes National Park still be viable places to visit and stay? We also plan to do coastal towns between Split and Dubrovnik. Thoughts? Will we be missing out on much? Thanks for feedback.
I was in Rovijn and Plitvice in mid-September 2022, only a month before October. They were still functioning; Rovinj was even a bit crowded still. I didn't go to the other places on your itinerary.
Overall, I believe you're traveling in the perfect time of year.
Thank you!
Plitvice lakes is open all year round.
Down the coast the shops and restaurants that close early are usually owned by people who do not live locally. The locals will usually stay open as long as there is business. Of course, there are always exceptions.
