Going to Slovenia this summer and will have a car. Doe anyone have any recs for nice hotels in Kobarid and Piran? We're not fancy people and usually stay in Garni's or B&Bs. Breakfast would be a plus, but it's not a deal breaker. In Piran, we'd like to stay within walking distance of the old part of town; in Kobarid we can be outside of town.

Memento B&B in Piran. This is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. Opened in January 2019, it is located in a renovated building on a narrow medieval street, just off Tartini Square. Brick. Plaster. Metal. Wood. Stone. Glass. All sorts of textures inside the building. Reasonably priced. My room was fabulous and had a balcony that overlooked an outdoor common area and had a view of the city’s bell tower.
Tourist Farm Kranj in Koseč just outside of Kobarid. A cute establishment owned by a lovely family towards the top of a hill. You get to drive through the very cute village of Drežnica, with its gleaming white church set amidst breathtaking natural beauty, to reach the tourist farm. I went for half-board because it was so inexpensive. Dinner was very good each night. Breakfast was amazing. They also did laundry for me for 8 euro.

Back in the summer of 2017 we stayed a night in Piran at GuestHouse Pachamama Pleasant Stay: https://www.pachamama.si/piran. It was in a good central location and functional.

I second Tourist Farm Kranj in Koseč. We stayed in 2017 and it was a perfect setting and the food was even better. If I go back I would spend a week in the Soca Valley area and stay with them.
