Logarska Dolina to Lake Bled - how to best split up 3 days

This is part of a larger trip. I will be traveling by car.

I have 3 days to travel from Logarska Dolina to Lake Bled area prior to driving across the Julian Alps. My initial thoughts are to spend the first night in Radovljica, then 2 in Lake Bled.

A cut at the 3 days would be:

  • Day 1: Logarska Dolina - Velika Planina (cable car to herdsmen’s huts) - Kamnik (1 street village, iron works) - Kranj (pretty old town) – Škofja Loka (one of oldest & loveliest town, castle) – Zelezniki – Drazgose, Jamnik (church), and Kropa – Radovljica (beekeeping museum, main square framed by Gothic & Renaissance buildings). Without stopping, this is a 4 hour drive.

  • Day 2: Radovljica - Lake Bled area including Vintgar Gorge, Podhom→ Ribčev Laz village → Lake Bohinj → Savica Waterfall → Studor v Bohinju (preserved village) → Lake Bled.

  • Day 3: Boat ride to Lake Bled island, walk around some of lake, basically an R&R day.

Day 1 feels tight, so possibly stay somewhere along the way to Radovljica. Day 3 feels light, so possibly move some of the places from Day 1 to Day 2 and places from Day 2 to Day 3?

I am open to any suggestions folks have as to how best split up these 3 dys and still see most all listed for these days. I am also open to where best to spend each of the 3 nights.

Thanks,

JD

Definitely a full schedule. I think you may have already stopped at Ljubljana before Logarska dolina (LD)?

If so and if you have the option of hitting Kamnik and Velika Planina (VP) on the way to LD from Ljubljana, you could avoid a little back tracking. There is a nice drive through the mountains from LD to Kranj that takes you briefly through Austria; to me, that would be better than back-tracking on the road to Ljubljana to catch VP and Kamnik on Day 1 of the itinerary above.

If you are locked into your current plan, I would hit VP and Kamnik and then head on to Kranj or Škofja Loka to rest for the night. As an aside, at Kamnik, there is a chapel in the Church of St Jakob that was created by Plečnik. I think it's a pretty special place (and it's worth reading about it to better understand the symbolism).

Then you can knock out the stuff in that area and head to Lake Bled for a couple of nights. It's ideal to hit Vintgar Gorge at opening time or late in the day to avoid the crowds that mob it.
