Lodging in Ljubliana

We are staying 4 nights in May in Ljubliana. What area is the best to stay? Any suggestions for lodging?

We liked Hotel Mrak before our Rick Steves Tour. Great location and breakfast.

It’s most convenient to stay in the center city for quick access to the train and bus station and to see the attractions in the center.

I’m staying at B&B Hotel Ljubljana Park after the 15 Day Central Europe Tour. They’re centrally located in the city center and a good price for a 3 star hotel and has good reviews from TripAdvisor. I also looked at the brand and it seems that it is a French brand. if anyone has stayed here, please let me know how it is. Thanks

uriengill... I can't comment on the Ljubljana location, but... I visited a friend outside Frankfurt, and he recommended the local B&B Hotel. He compared it to Hampton Inn. I stayed there, and his comparison was very fair -- though B&B Hotel had a little bit better of a breakfast.

We were pleased with the Hotel Slon in 2023. It is a larger hotel, conveniently located near the city center. We chose to have breakfast included, which was very good, and the price was “reasonable.”

Our stay at City Hotel was not great. Room was dark with an odd configuration; bathroom not designed well resulting in water from the shower all over the floor. Breakfast room was an absolute madhouse; crammed with guests; difficult to find a seat. We will not return. On a positive note, I highly recommend a meal at Georgie Bistro. Stellar service and food! Reservations recommended.

We have been to Ljubljana three times and have stayed at Hotel Mrak each time and it's been great. It's on a side street off a main thoroughfare, a block an a half to a bus stop, a block from the university library, and a few blocks to the river. There is a restaurant/cafe next door and they do serve breakfast, which we have eaten at each morning we've been there.
