Ljubljana to Lake Bled. Some specific questions

Will be in Ljubljana in two days and want to take public transit to Lake Bled. Planning to take the bus.
1. Want to buy tickets ahead of time. Which Bled am I picking? There are 3 Bleds showing for me.

  1. Coming back, how do I buy the return ticket. Can't prebuy because unknown when I'm returning. From bus driver only or other options? Cash only or can I use a card?

  2. Most importantly, where do I find that famous Kremsnita. Had some in Split and HAVE to try it here.

This describes the location of the bus stations in Lake Bled. Sorry I don't know the answer to #2 but I would think you can purchase at the bus station or from the driver. You could ask in Ljubljana when you leave.

Kremsnita is sold all over the place, can't really miss it. The Park Cafe is purported to have created the "original" version, but I ate it at several places along the walk around the lake it was all delicious.

I haven't taken public transportation to Lake Bled from Ljubljana but you will want to go to the Central Bled Bus Station. If you are picking up the bus at the main bus station in Ljubljana, next to the train station, a ticket agent should be able to help you with the return tickets. Looking at Google Maps you will see how to get from the bus stop to the main street thru Lake Bled. You will come out between Hotel Park and the Panorama Restaurant.

We had Bled Cream Cake in the cafe at Hotel Park last month as it came with our stay but the cafe is not open all hours. Many years ago we had it on the terrace of the Panorama Restaurant which is on the right a short distance after the stairs to Hotel Park. The terrace overlooks Lake Bled.

I would opt for the train. Only an hour ride. There is a bus stop across the street that takes you to the lake. Go to the Park Cafe. There is a great outdoor dining terrace for lunch facing the lake.

From the bus website, when I search for Bled I get: Bled, Bled Gmajna, Bled Mlino, Bled Petrol, Bled Union, Bled Zaki, Bled grad and Bled sole. I'm assuming it's the first one, just plain Bled.

I would say that is a correct assumption. When choosing the link for ap-ljubljana.si, in the section regarding bus schedule of the site that CL enclosed a link to in that post, it shows a map that marks the Bled bus stop to be the same as what Google Maps shows, and what I have passed by, as the Lake Bled bus stop that is closest to the Lake and downtown area.

I contacted the bus station and tickets are open for any time for day of travel and route. It even says that just before you make payment.
