Has anyone purchased the Ljubljana card? Any comments as to it's value and usefulness? Reading the guidebook leads me to believe that the transportation options and admissions received from the card aren't worth the 36-49 euros it costs.

If you are comparing entry fees in a guidebook to the actual current cost of the pass, you may not have accurate-enough data. Entry fees may have gone up substantially since the guidebook went to press. If you expect to do a good bit of sightseeing in Ljubljana, I recommend going to the websites of the main sights you plan to visit (start with the castle--it may be the most expensive) and check current entry fees.
I don't use much public transportation myself, so I usually value that part of a city card at roughly $0. That varies a lot from traveler to traveler.
