Ljubljana as base camp for the country?

We're planning to spend 5-6 days in Slovenia in mid=October (first trip). We'll want to spend time in Ljubljana, visit Bled, Vintgar Gorge, Julian Alps, one cave, maybe Lipica stud farm, and probably a winery (Goriska Brda area?). We're not the kind to change locations every night or two, but were wondering if we could manage all that as day trips from Ljubljana or whether it would make more sense to spend a couple of nights maybe in wine country.

Suggestions appreciated. Also re. where to stay if we stay somewhere besides Ljubljana. Farm stay? hotel?

Ljubljana is good for a base for your itinerary. Only for Goriska Brda and Soca Valley, I would choose somewhere else to stay. Tolmin will be nice and you can see more of the Valley and Brda are a short drive away. If you prefer vine testing in Brda then stay there overnight.
Slovenia is small and all others locations are easily reached in an hour or less drive from Ljubljana.

Might consider a second stay for the “southern part” of Slovenia. We stayed at Toni Agriturizam in Motovun and Tourist Farm Hudicevec near Postoyna which is very near Lipica and the caves.
