Ljublijana to Lake Bled - Transport options?

our party of 4 adults need to travel from Ljublijana (central city) to Lake Bled in December. we are staying overnight in Ljublijana and then in lake bled.
we can either first catch the train ( then get a taxi/bus to the lake itself from the train station)
or catch a bus
or perhaps catch a taxi?
from Rome2rio, it appears to take about 1hr or so by train/bus, but 36min by taxi.
we don't want to hire a car.

any suggestions, from those who have travelled there would be appreciated.

As of 2015 that would have been an inexpensive taxi run, assuming you could get a taxi that accomodated all 4 of you and all your luggage. At that time, it was cheaper to call a taxi than to flag one down on the street. But that was 3 years ago, and things may have changed.

As a solo traveler, I always took the bus to and from Bled, though I twice shared taxis with other people to travel beyond Bled. The buses made two stops in town, one of them relatively near the lake. The drivers knew the foreigners probably wanted the second stop and tried to be sure everyone knew what was happening, though they did not necessarily really speak English. The ticket sellers in Bled and Ljubljana spoke English well.

The bus is direct and cheap, and there are frequent buses. There are fewer trains to Lesce Bled station than buses but a train is probably a tad faster than the bus, if you take a taxi from there. Probably a more comfortable, easier ride than the bus, and if you need to get a taxi on to your lodgings anyway, maybe skipping the bus entirely isn't a bad idea.

(Don't take a train to Bled Jezero station with luggage - it's up the hill above the lake, across from the town. Doable as a day trip without luggage but not with bags. The station feels like a ghost town - don't expect taxis waiting or anything. Lesce Bled station is the one you want.)

Might also look into GoOpti - a transfer service that for four people might be very affordable and convenient.
