Have you booked the car? When we did a similar trip, drop-off fees in other countries were very high. Consider picking up the car in Zagreb, then driving to Slovenia. We stayed in Radovljica so we could easily access Lake Bled (meh) and great areas closer to Lake Bohinj. We took the train to Ljubliana for one day, that was enough for us. Consider Skocjan Caves and Predjama Castle. Book the Plitvice tickets for as early as you can.

Thank you. Yes, the car situation isn’t ideal but it helps us maximize time in an area we aren’t likely to return to.

We will day trip to Radovljica from Ljubljana and at some point explore the castle and caves as you suggested.

Mostly need to figure out where to stay for 3 nights between Kobarid and Plitvice. Perhaps Vipava Valley 2 nights and Piran 1 night?
