I am thinking of signing up for a Rick Steve’s’ tour. His tour ends in Lake Bled and wondering what people who have done his Slovenia tour did for transportation to Ljubljana to fly home. Also wondering if we should spend a couple of days in Ljubljana before we depart. TIA

The two times we have ended in Lake Bled the guide offered to assist us, and made the taxi arrangements, for transportation from Lake Bled to the airport. The tour you are taking that ends in Lake Bled visits Ljubljana as a day stop. I would not consider that to be a sufficient amount of time to see much of the city. I would want to go there early on the day your tour is over and spend two more nights there. We have stayed in Hotel Mrak twice, once on a RS tour, and liked it. It is on a side street and conveniently located a few blocks from the river and the old town.

The regular busses that runs between Bled and Ljubljana generally stop at the airport, which is roughly halfway between them. The bus I rode had folks from Bled to the airport. That said, the bus was late and the aircon was busted, and I felt rather badly for those poor people heading to their flight. This is certainly one of those occasions where money equals piece of mind, and arranging a taxi might be worth it.
Also, if you can swing a couple extra nights in Ljubljana then absolutely do. You wont regret it.
