Juliana Trail

Here's a lovely article on the NY Times website by Henry Wismayer about the Juliana Trail through (or around) the Julian Alps. It brought back some great memories of my trip there in 2014; some of the areas I visited overlap with the trail. The 167-mile trail opened in late 2019, just before Covid hit. But Slovenia is open now, and so is the trail.

Thanks Lane for sharing the article. We were there in 2018 and it brought back fond memories as well. We also visited some of the areas that overlapped the trail. Of course I can’t say enough about Ljubljana, our all time favorite city in Europe!

That was a great read, Lane. We were also there in 2014 and absolutely loved Slovenia. I’d like to visit again and at some point, I’d like to hike some of the trail. Janis- my favorite city too! I can’t wait to go back.

Meg, another reason to return to Ljubljana is to enjoy the wonderful Pumpkin Seed Oil that was served with the bread at Jujiya- our favorite restaurant! We ate there 3 times. We brought home several small bottles in our suitcase secured with bubble wrap! We found other delightful Slovenian foods at the open market. The Gelato was excellent there as well.
