My wife and I always seem to end up taking Rick's city tours backwards. We just somehow find ourselves at the end point as we get ready to be guided.
It's a little harder to find the landmarks, sometimes we end up backtracking to actually stand in front of something being described, but it's always doable.
The day we drove through that area, it was socked in with low clouds. Visibility was horrible. Probably would have been a great day to take eerie pictures of the 'dragon bridge' in Ljubljana.
By the time we got to Cividale on the Friulian/Italian side, it was clear and gorgeous. I remember enjoying a lovely 'Milanese' with crusty bread (something you won't find in Slovenia) and good Sangiovese in a restaurant in Trieste's 'Opicina' district while erasing all the dull pics of an obscured Soca River off my camera.
Thanks for reminding me we need to get back to that region, with enough time to adjust our itinerary according to weather.
