Julian Alps drive

Hi all,
I'm looking for advice about how much time we would have after doing Rick's Julian Alps drive. I plan to spend the night in Bled, then do the Julian Alps drive including hiking stops along the way. I'm wondering if it's doable to head to Kobarid and see the sights there too(that same day), or if that is too much. Is it a better idea to head to Llubijana (or another town to spend the night and get up early and plan on heading to see Kobarid on our way to Piran?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Just my opinion, but, if you stop at most of the places noted in the book as part of
the Julian Alps drive, it will take most of the day. I probably spent an hour in Kranjska
Gora that I didn't need to, but I got to Kobarid with enough time to spend an hour in
the museum (which was just about enough).

So my guess is that if you include hiking stops, you will not be able to see anything in
Kobarid that day. But it depends on how much hiking you plan on and how much you
want to stop at all the places along the way (but if you don't, why are you doing the drive
in the first place?).

I think the problem with your other option is that Kobarid is a non-trivial drive from Ljubljana
(even not going over the pass), and you're going in the opposite direction from Piran for
part of the way, so that's probably a full day as well. And it's a backtrack from Bled given
your plans.

Maybe plan to spend the night in Bovec?
