Is skiing still possible in march?

Is skiing on beginner slopes still likely possible around Jesenice or Kransja Gora in early-mid march? I had hoped to go late this year but that is now unlikely. I am basically a beginner having only been a few times so i dont need great snow, just somewhere to try not to break bones. I am aware of stubai glacier etc. in austria but I nearly killed myself there last time so looking for much easier.
Any advice much appreciated.

Kranjska Gora is not particularly easy, most slopes are quite steep and lower elevation = poorer snow = more difficult skiing. But it should still be very much operational in early March, it's still wintry.

But I would only go there if I had other reasons to be in Slovenia.

Thank you balso.
Yes, slovenia was my destination first and then i thought maybe i could do a day snowboarding while im there. I was in slovenia 23 years ago but in september so obviously not ski season.

I would do some more skiing in Australia (assuming that is where you're from based on
your handle) in the hopes of improving your skill set before you expend the time, effort,
and money to ski in Europe. It would be one thing if you are experienced and know
exactly how to go about it, but if not...

Also, with climate change, snow conditions in the Alps in mid-March are definitely variable.
Which is to say they could be great, or could be awful.

Obviously there are more resorts in Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, so if your goal is to
ski, you have more choices in those countries.

I have often met skiers from Slovenia while skiing in the Dolomites.
"Its much better here and only a 2 1/2 hour drive from my house."

Thanks shoeflyer and Sam. I have only ever skiied in Europe. My destination is Slovenia for the country. If I can ski for a day that would be great but if not it won't change my travels.

Skiing in Australia is overcrowded and overpriced. My last skiing was in Slovakia, Austria and Germany before that.

Lostaussie, I think that there is so much to do in Slovenia, that skiing would be pretty
low on my list (and I like to ski).

Bringing (or renting) the equipment for a day of skiing is a large amount of overhead
for the return.

You are not that far from either the Austrian or Italian Alps, which offer you much more
choice. Go to one of those regions (but not in February, which is school holidays and
very very busy), after you enjoy Slovenia. There are large ski resorts, yes, but there are
also very small resorts (think one or two lifts) which may suit your needs.

Google Maps shows ski lifts when you magnify enough, so you can get some idea of the
size of a ski area and then investigate more from there.

Thanks for the advice shoeflyer. I will be spending at least a few nights somewhere in austria. I just thought slovenia might be cheaper for gear hire and lift tickets and definitely accomodation.

Try Innsbruck, especially if you were thinking of going there anyways. There are several
small ski areas around Innsbruck, all of which are reachable with public transportation.

I have been to Innsbruck a few times. Last time I went on the stubai glacier, followed some new friends and ended up on a black run. I won't make that mistake again!!

I was thinking kufstein or Kitzbuehel potentially. I have been to both but on booze filled Oktoberfest trips so I don't remember much.

Aussie on a booze filled Oktoberfest trip? I never would have thunk it.
