How to go to Rogaška resort from Ljubljana, and from Rogaška resort to Bologna, Italy?

We need to go to the Rogaška resort from Ljubljana. After a weekend stay there, we need to go to Bologna, Italy. What is the best way?

I thought of using train as much as possible but the train system in Slovenia seems to be rather slow and the connection to the train system in Italy is not very good. The most unknown part is how to get to the hotel. The hotel suggests we use taxi but it costs 55 Euro to Celje (the closest large city) and 110 Euro to Ljubjiana.

At this point, I am thinking of taking train from Ljubljana to Celje and take taxi, and on return take taxi to Celje and take an international bus to Bologna. Is there a better/cheaper way? Is Uber operating in Slovenia ?

There are several trains a day from Ljubliana to Rogaška. taking a bit over 2 hours. Usually with a change in Celje. So that should not be a huge problem.

From Rogaska to Bologna is a bit more complicated, as indeed trains from Slovenia to Italy are not that frequent.

But you can do Rogaska - Celje - Trieste - Bologna. Only downside is that you arrive in Bologna just after midnight. Maybe spend the night in Trieste?

Use www.bahn.de to plan your trips.

Or combine train and bus. Train from Rogaška to Ljubljana, bus from there to Venice, then train to Bologna. That is probably going to be the fastest way.

Thank you, Wengen ! I thought there wasn't a train station in Rogaska because rome2rio.com couldn't find a route. But bahn.de says there's a train route and it takes only 2 hours!

I'm going to Slovenia in June..fly into Venice, 2 nights in Trieste because I have never been there. Train from Trieste to Ljubljana.
9 am......2 hours 45 minutes .
Even though I am departing from Venice I did research flying out of Bologna.
It appears that the there are several companies such as Triptsair that go to Mestre train station from Ljubljana. Faster than the Slovenia bus line although the bus takes about 3 hous or so, not too long. From Venice Mestre station it's only about an hour and a half to Bologna Centrale. Many trains from early to late..so it's very possible.

Just found this. From Rogaska there appears to be a bus to Trieste..between 4.5 hours and 5 and half hours. Appears to be a FlixBus 402 towards Turin (Vittorio Emanuele) .
Then in Trieste there are many frequent trains to Bologna Centrale about 1.5 hours.
