How to actually get a reservation at Julija?

We are headed to Slovenia for three weeks in September, and I have read so many glowing recommendations for Julija restaurant in Ljubljana that I feel it's a do-not-miss. Everyone says reservations needed, or go at 5 and be out by 7. Since 5 is earlier than we would like, how do I actually get a reservation? They offer an email for reservations, but mine has not received a reply, as another writer also lamented.

If you were able to make a reservation at Julija at 7 p.m. or later, how did you make it and how far ahead of time?

Do you know for sure the restaurant is open? It's summer, there is some
possibility the restaurant is on vacation. And, I mean, if you really want to
go there, call them, keeping the time difference in mind.

Barring that, if you are going to be in Ljubljana for a bit, I'd stop by the
restaurant and inquire about reservations in person at the start, in the
hopes you can get a table later in your stay. You could also see how they
handle no-shows.

Thank you! It seems unlikely this particular restaurant is taking a vacation right now. I have thought about calling (though not sure about doing that from the U.S.) or stopping by, but I am looking to go at the very beginning of our trip, hence I am wondering how far in advance one must reserve.

We did not dine at Julija, however we did have a fantastic experience at Georgie Bistro. Cuisine and service were both exemplary. You may want to take a look at them as an alternative. They do take reservations. https://georgiebistro.si/en/home

Do you not have the # for the restaurant, or just not know how to make an
international call?

Here is the # for Julija: Phone: +386 (0) 1 425 64 63

To make the call: on your mobile phone, hold down the "0" key for a moment
and the "+" sign should appear. Dial the rest of the number as above, leaving
off the (0). Should work fine. The trick is holding down the 0 key.

If you have Skype or some other internet calling service, this should work as
well on the phone or computer.

Of course, if you're making a call straight off your mobile phone, check to see
what you're charged for an international call. But the call will be short, so not
too much to worry about.

I had the same issue with no reply to my email. I emailed my hotel and asked if they could call. Bingo! Reservation made.

Try this.

Thanks for advice on making calls in Slovenia, I will probably be making a few.

And yes, I have considered that besides inquiring in person, that the best bet might be to ask someone who speaks Slovenian to call and make a reservation. Thanks!

Do not worry about language barrier, especially in Ljubljana, most people there speak excellent English.

Thanks so much for this post and all the responses. I just posted the same question on another thread, but deleted it when I saw this thread. I've e-mailed Julija twice, but no response. Will call them. If that doesn't work, I'll ask my hotel to call.

As it turns out, I contacted the host of my apartment in Ljubljana, and she has a friend who works at Julija and can make a reservation for me. Nice!
