Hotel reservation in Bled, trains from Llubljana to Bled; train tickets from Munich to Ljubljana

We are going to Slovenia in a couple of weeks. I have some hotel reservations, but things are booking up quickly! We'd like to get to Bled for a couple of days. Is it best to rent a car and drive or take a train? Also, what is the best way to reserve a hotel there? I have 2 that I would like to try: 1. Grand Hotel Toplice or Villa Bled. Any other tips are greatly appreciated.

Also, I know I can book tickets from Munich to Ljubljana on this website, but what if we cannot make the train due to delays? How does the ticket work? Can we still use it or is the money lost? Do we need reservations on the train?

You can booking tickets ahead on the same German rail web site that we use for train schedules. Advance-discount tickets are restricted to a date and time, so don't book until you're confident of your plans. If you don't want the advance discount, then there is no deadline to buy tickets and no requirement to reserve a seat. The rai way will take responsibility for connecting you if the scheduled trains are delayed, but not if you have other issues getting to your starting point in Munich. From Ljubljana to Lake Bled is an easy bus ride and the bus station is very close to the train station in Ljubljana .
