We are looking to book 2 nights the end of Oct after a tour that ends in Ljubljana. Will rent a car to drive through the Vrsic Pass (or Predil if necessary, due to weather). I am looking at these 2 accommodations - would like a place that has outside (and inside) views of the mountains/scenery and they both seem to have this. Would like to keep under $225 Euro per night. I have read that the Farmhouse Kranjc has a windy drive, but thinking it could be o.k. if we book the dinners both nights and only drive during daylight. Would appreciate input if you've stayed at either location, or have other recommendations on what we are hoping for? Thanks!
We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Dobra Vila in September 2024. Great place!! Request a room on the back side of the hotel and you'll have beautiful scenic views w/ a shared balcony that runs the complete length of the building. The breakfast room also has views to the mountains while enjoying the breakfast buffet and cooked to order items as well. Our hosts recommended hikes and places to eat nearby. Some within walking distance of the Dobra Vila. The Vrsic Pass is like no other mountain pass we've ever traversed. You will love Bovec.
I stayed at Tourist Farm Kranjc in 2019. I really liked it. The drive up to it is indeed on a bit of a curvy road, but it has plenty of room for 2 cars to pass, so it's not a bad drive. It is a gorgeous drive that includes passing the village of Drežnica with its gleaming white church sitting in front of beautiful mountains. A photo I took of Drežniza has been my laptop's wallpaper photo since 2019. There are mountain views from the farm. Dinners were quite good. I drove up the road one night and don't remember it being particularly scary.
Thank you both for your experiences and details! Looks like each are a good choice, I'll check on availability soon.
