Leaving for Slovenia this Thursday and very excited! We have one day in Kobarid and I would love to hire a guide for the museum and trail. The museum only had a guide available for 9:30 am, but we won't be arriving in Kobarid until about noon. Can anyone recommend a guide for this area? I know it's very late notice but just wanted to try. Thank you in advance.
To my knowledge, Vesna does not usually do Kobarid Museum stuff, but maybe she would no someone who could help?
I wrote to Vesna twice and never heard back, but thank you!
It might be worth a try to call or email the Rick Steves office and see if they have any suggestions since there Best of the Adriatic tour stops there.
Thanks, Patty! That's a good idea.
When I went to the museum (admittedly, 5pm on a weekday in the spring), I was the
only person visiting the museum, and the person (only 1) working there spent so much
time explaining the history and exhibits to me that it was almost as good as having
a private guide.
She spoke very good English and if I recall correctly, most of the exhibits are captioned
in English as well.
So even if you don't manage to obtain a guide, I say go to the museum, it was a fascinating
(but somewhat gruesome) slice of history that most Americans know little about.
Thanks, Shoeflyer! I definitely plan to go regardless.
