We are scheduled to arrive at LJU 9/16 at 1425 from Heathrow. How much time should we allow for going through immigration?
We will have carryon luggage. I'm not sure of timing for scheduling a pickup. Goopti states they will not wait if we aren't ready at the scheduled pickup time. I see we can buy insurance also in case of a delay. I'm curious as to what others have done when scheduling pickup time. We generally use public transport into city centers, so we are open to suggestions. I understand there is an airport shuttle bus. Thanks for your thoughts!
Why not just take the bus to the city? No need to schedule anything, just take the first bus that arrives. Tickets cost a few euros and can be bought from the driver (cash only).
Thanks, Badger, that seems the simplest solution!
It has been 2 years since I landed at LJU and took Go-Opti so keep that in mind. At that time, there was probably about 30-45 minutes to get luggage and go through immigration. Go-Opti has two different ways of getting this. Advance reservation or purchase at the airport. We had advance reservations. One advantage of Go-Opti for me was that it took me right to the door of my hotel. I had been traveling for a very long day and it was nice to have that service right to the hotel.
Thanks for that info, Carol now retired. I didn't realize we could also purchase upon arrival. Very helpful to know!
FWIW my flight was delayed by almost 2 hours. GoOpti did wait as thebshuttle had other passengers on that delayed flight. I did call the driver to let him know that the flight was going to be delayed and he was already aware of it and confirmed he'll monitor the flight and wait. That was great because it was raining heavily in Ljubljana that night.
I didn't choose the public bus option as my flight was scheduled to arrive in the evening and I want sure if I could buy ticket on the bus or if I needed one of those bus passes.
Thanks,Pam, I appreciate the information!
Here's a follow up :
We decided to wait to get tickets for Go Opti until we arrived at the airport. It took about thirty minutes to go through immigration and then we walked the short distance to the Go Opti desk, bought our tickets, went out to the van and we were on our way into Ljubljana within 15 minutes which I thought was a great result.
Susan thanks for coming back and letting us know how it all worked out. Have a wonderful trip.
