Will I need hiking shoes for this tour? Or are sneakers adequate? Would prefer not to carry the weight of hiking shoes.
I wore my Brooks, and my husband had his Hokas. For the activities we did, there was nothing that we needed anything more.
I just returned home from this trip. I took a pair of Ecco sneakers and sandals. The sneakers were fine for all the walking, including at Plitvice, and I was glad to have the sandals because it was warm (80 degrees) in Croatia. If you plan to go to the beaches and/or swim, I'd recommend taking some kind of water shoe that straps on or fastens securely in some fashion. I took a pair of flip-flops to minimize packing weight. But they didn't stay on well enough to swim and walking was difficult on on the rocky/pebbly beaches.
Thanks, mnannie and Sue! Very helpful!
A comfortable pair of sneakers is definitely adequate for the activities on the tour. Even in Plitvice Lakes, most of the walking is on boardwalks or well worn dirt paths as I recall. I had a good pair of sneakers and a pair of sport sandals when I took this tour. The Adriatic tour was one of my absolute favorites. Enjoy!
Thanks, Katerina!
