Driving from Bled/Triglav Nat Park region to Goriska Brda region to Piran

We will be traveling to Slovenia in late September, and renting a car from our first stop, which is Bled (after taking the train from Munich to Lesce-Bled). After hiking in the Bled/Triglav National Park area for a few days, we'd like to drive to the Goriska Brda region. Ideally, we'd like to stop at Kobarid along the way to Goriska Brda because that area sounds fascinating too. After a few days in Goriska Brda, we'd like to drive to Piran for a couple days. After Piran, we'd like to drive to Ljubljana for the remainder of our trip.

Does this sound like a doable driving route? Are the roads decent? We are from the US midwest and not accustomed to serious mountain driving. We're a party of six adults and will have two cars. Do you have any tips for this route, or suggestions for modifying it? We have hotel reservations at each stop, but I believe we can modify them as needed. Your input is very much appreciated!

The drive should not be a problem at all. The roads in Slovenia are good.

Bled to Kobarid and on to Goriska Brda. I would take Vršič Pass. Two lane road with curves but definitely manageable and certainly not white-knuckle driving. Beautiful mountain views followed by beautiful Soča Valley views. Another option is to take the Motorail from Bohinjska Bistirica to Most na Soči; pull your car onto a train and then ride through the mountains instead of driving over them. It's pretty cool. Two lane roads but good quality.

The rest of the driving is even simpler. If you aren't aware, you cannot take your car into Piran. Most people park at the Fornače parking garage at the edge of town. It's only about a 10-minute walk to Tartini Square from the garage. A shuttle also operates from the garage to the Square.

Slovenia is awesome. Enjoy your time there.
