I am in initial stages of planning a self-driven 7-9 day road trip through Slovenia, with one option being an itinerary that another poster inquired about from readers and consequently summarized on another thread of this forum (~ Ljubljana, Piran, Kobarid, Bohinj, Bled, and back to Ljubljana; including use of the auto train for part of the itinerary).
Context / reason for this note:
- I will travel with my immediate family (i.e., myself, wife, and 8- and 6-year old children), and three grand parents. Total 7 seats.
- Accounting for luggage space needs, presuming we are looking at a 8-9 seater vehicle, perhaps like the VW Caravelle)
- I am a seasoned US-based passenger vehicle driver, and drive automatic transmission only; and I do not have a Commercial driving license
- I am presuming I would pick up the rental in Ljubljana the day we are wrapping up in that city, and then drop it back off as soon as we return to Ljubljana
- Expected travel dates are first / second week of July
Question:
Do folks have any concern with navigating this itinerary with this
type of a larger vehicle, and driven by a regular guy with a regular
passenger vehicle driving experience?Any complication envisioned if
we use the motor train?
Welcome feedback on the above, as well as any other guidance that you may have in mind
Thank you.
