Should we be on 206 through Vrsic Pass or 102 as recommended by Viamichelin?
I guess you clicked on "avoid motorways".
Are you sure you meant Venice? Neither road makes any sense for that route.
We are taking the motorway over from Venice too Ljublana. On the return we wanted to take a scenic route. 206 and 102 are both routes that go through the Alps. I was asking which was more scenic?
102 goes through the Alpine foothills except for the last few miles before the Italian border, Vrsic Pass is much better. Do 206 and then 102 to 103 following the Soca Valley to the highway in Nova Gorica. You could also do SS54 to 203 over Predel Pass and then follow the Soca Valley again to Nova Gorica. A long driving day in both cases, though.
Another faster alternative is again via Kranjska Gora to Tarvisio and then down the A23 and A4 to Venice. They’re highways so are faster than the other roads but are not too bad as far as scenery is concerned.
