Hello all.
My hubby and I will be visiting italy next year with my 75 year old mom and will be very close to Slovenia when staying in Trieste Italy and would love to get a little taste of Slovenia.
Just looking for a day trip to a cute town in the hopes of finding a gem we would not have known about otherwise.
I love that mom could say hey at least I’ve been to Slovenia even if it was just for a day.
Any recommendations you would have would be greatly appreciated.

hire a car to take you to/from
Oh yes we will have a car.....but we were not sure what towns were the best to see with limited time. We love quaint towns with pretty architecture and walk ability. Want to find somewhere pretty to spend a day and eat traditional foods. Thank you so much.

If you are driving into Slovenia remember that you will need a Vignette.
I understand (haven't driven in, just nearby) that the fines for not having one are high...
