Has anyone taken a train from PULA to LJUBLJIANA before? Rome2Rio says this is a direct (albeit) slow route but I wonder if it works well.

We have opted to book a rental car in Rijeka and will take the train from Ljublijana to Rijeka and then drive to Pula. I didn't find great connections between Ljubliana and Pula. I can report back after my trip.

The train from Ljubljana to Rijeka was perfect. We bought our tickets upon arrival in Ljubljana - about 8 euros each. We took the 3:10pm train a few days later and enjoyed the scenery. The train was not very full at all. In Rijeka, it was simple to find our rental car agency. We drove to Rovinj that evening, arriving before dark.
