Covid Concerns

How serious is Covid spread?
Are masks in widespread use?
Are treatments available: monoclonal, paxlovid, etc, similar to USA?
Thanks!
Healthy, vaxxed, and boosted. Still concerned.

Like you, the CDC is “still concerned” as well, and with a particular worry about toilets. Though “fecal transmission” is still being studied as a vector, their simple warning is clear:
“Protect yourself if you must share a bathroom with someone with COVID-19.
Wait as long as possible to use a shared bathroom after a person with COVID-19.
Wear a mask when using a shared bathroom after a person with COVID-19.
Clean before using a shared bathroom after a person with COVID-19.”

On its Foundation site, the CDC points out: “Many people infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, shed viruses in their feces, even if they are asymptomatic.” So if a tour group has an asymptomatic couple - or more - with the virus (at some point testing “positive”) had anyone shared a restroom with these folks? Maybe a quick, morning-of-departure trip to the hotel lobby toilet or use of the facilities at a small restaurant? If the group is unaware of the CDC’s advice on shared bathrooms, could one or two infected members progress to a “cluster outbreak” of a dozen? Judging by the CDC’s advice, it is not a unthinkable possibility.

I was in Ljubljana for a few days last month. Masks are extremely rare. I took buses and trains. I wore a mask sometimes on either buses or trains depending on how close I was to others. I was one of the very few wearing a mask.

I didn't eat indoors anywhere. The weather was good enough that I was able to eat outside a few times - plenty of place have outdoor seating though it might not be pleasant in the rain.

Otherwise, I just avoided close contact with people whenever possible. Europe is seeing another Covid uptick but the US probably will soon too.

I traveled through Slovenia in September. I wore masks on public transport and if I was in a crowded indoor setting. Not very many other people were wearing masks. I think that mask wearing is probably very similar to what it is in the United States right row. Some people might wear them, while the majority of the rest do not.

Only you can make the choice that works best for you and your situation. My feeling is that if you would feel comfortable traveling in the United States, then you would probably find the travel experience (in terms of Covid) quite similar in Slovenia.

I was in Ljubljana and Lake Bled three weeks ago.

I saw very few people with masks. I wore masks on public transit but nowhere else.

I am fully vaccinated and boosted.

I don't know about the availability of treatments but imagine it must be easy to obtain them in Europe.

I needed medical treatment in Ljubljana back in 2015. Things were handled very professionally, and the education level in the country is quite high, so there are many English-speakers around to assist. No one wants to get sick when away from home, but I wouldn't be particularly concerned about having to deal with COVID in Slovenia. I'm not sure things would be so easy in some of the other Balkan countries.

My suggestion for anyone traveling internationally is to take Mucinex Tablets with you. Someone mentioned on this forum that Europe does not have that in the pharmacies. My husband and I tested positive in Tuscany in June (Although we had been very cautious and wearing masks on planes, buses, Ubers, taxis). The tablets helped decrease symptoms so we felt okay and were still able to go hiking and driving in the beautiful countryside. I also had lot of Tylenol with me, which helped with the fever.
