Can you recommend a local tour guide?

We will be visiting Ljubljana the last week in September and would like to hire a local tour guide for a day to show us around. Can anyone suggest someone?

I have tried the following people based upon Rick's book suggestions:

Marijan Kriskovic... Not available at that time
Barbara Jakopic... No response to emails
Tina Hiti/Sašo Golub... Responded a couple times, but not answering any additional emails.

Thanks.

when we were there, pre-covid, we went to the TI for the daily English tour, I think it was about two hours. There was much info at the TI regarding other tours, so perhaps you could email them for info. In my communications with TI's in other countries, I have received prompt and helpful responses.
Good luck!

Thanks Pat. I have never used the TI for much so maybe this could be a first.

Keith,
Great list of recommended guides. Sorry to hear about the current lack of availability. Marijan was our guide for the Adriatic Tour and Barbara was our local guide. That said, I have read good reviews on this forum for walking tours. Sounds like the TI would be a good resource.
We did a tour of the Plecnik House and it was a great introduction to Ljubljana. We were there in September 2018. Enjoy your stay! My favorite city in Europe. :)

We are familiar with Tina and Saso, having been guided by them and also recommending them to friends who booked them pre-covid. Though we do not know why they have not responded, we do know they are both very busy doing more tours than they may normally have done before the pandemic.

We were there in June and also went to the local TI, right over the bridge, and took a walking tour. Our guide called out sick at the last minute but they insisted we wait, we were a group of 7, and a new guide would come in 15 minutes. And she did. She was lovely, funny, spoke beautiful English, and walked around the entire city in high heels.

I used Mateja Kregar Gliha for 2 days in Ljubljana -- one day for a general Ljubljana tour and one day for a Plečnik tour. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. https://www.sloveniaguides.si/en/mateja-kregar-gliha

Also... Ljubljana Guides is part of a loosely connected group of guides trying to provide unique local experiences to people who visit Slovenia. I spent part of a day with Alenka and her companion Gasper hiking Šmarna Gora. I would expect that they could help you piece together an interesting day, too. https://www.ljubljanaguides.com/
