Bled/Bohinj/Triglav/Kobarid accommodations - how many nights and where?

We're planning to spend 5 days/4 nights in the areas around Triglav NP and the Soca Valley - Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, Vintgar Gorge, over Vrsic Pass to Kobarid.

We'll be in a rental car.
We'll be doing the usual touristy things, plus some additional easy/moderate hiking.

We don't mind 1-night stays, but if it's almost as convenient to stay all 4 nights in the same place, or break it up 2/2, that's preferable.

Looking for recommendations for number of nights and locations, plus if anyone has specific accommodations they can recommend, also appreciated. (There are just 2 of us - my adult daughter and myself - and we like quiet, quaint, homey places, nothing too fancy, don't need a lot of amenities. We usually stay in Airbnb's).

For starters, I would say split it into 2 2-day stays. Driving over the pass multiple times will
be a hassle and backtracking is inefficient.

I stayed in Bled and Kobarid and it worked fine. Hotel Triglav Bled is a bit off the beaten path
but has great views and a lovely breakfast. Quaint but not necessarily cheap, but in the high
season everything in Bled may be pricey.

Bohinj may have options but I can't comment on them.

In Kobarid, Hotel Topli Val is the main option, but there are smaller places too. I think you'd
have options in Bovec too.

Search back in time in the sub-forum and I am pretty sure you will find recommendations from
others.

I don't know were you are coming from and where you are headed, but one option is to spend 4 nights in the Bohinj/Bled area and take one day to drive the Vršič Pass, through the Soča Valley, and then catch the Motorail back to the Bohinj area. With the Motroail, you drive your car onto a train and ride back "through" the mountains instead of driving over the mountains. I thought it was fun, but I love all things transportation. There are plenty of YouTube videos about the Motorail to give you an idea of what it is like.

Mostnica Gorge is a great hike in the Bohinj/Bled area. There is a nice food place at Voje Falls -- where most people "end" the out portion of an out-and-back hike. Excellent blueberry strudel, which I ate at the recommendation of another forum member. I also had my first Turkish coffee there. https://thetravellinghiker.com/a-day-exploring-mostnica-gorge-and-voje-valley/

Vintgar Gorge is great, too, and more well known. I recommend turning right after walking to the end of the gorge ("hike" would be a strong term for passing through the gorge) to ascend to St Catherine's Church, then to cross cow pastures with excellent views of the surrounding villages just below & Bled Castle in the distance, and then descend back down to the parking lot.

I’ve been to Slovenia and will be back in the fall.
Lake Bohinj, within Triglav National Park, is so much better than Bled and only 30 minutes away. Lake Bled isn’t the turquoise blue color that the tributaries off Lake Bohinj are. And Lake Bohinj is peaceful and not overrun with tourists as Bled is. Ribcev Laz and Ukanc are nice villages to stay in at Lake Bohinj for a couple nights. The Hotel Jezero in Ribcev Laz is nice, but for an alpine woodsy ambiance, you might enjoy “Apartments Skantar.”

You could then drive two hours to Kobarid for a couple more nights and enjoy the Vintgar Gorge hike there and the turquoise rivers. Kobarid even has a 3-starred Michelin restaurant called “ Hisa Franko” with very reasonable prices for a restaurant of that caliber.

Have a great trip!
