We are booked on the June 10th-23rd Best of Eastern Europe tour. It seems tour members leave Lake Bled on the day the tour ends for Ljubljana which I understand is 30 minutes away. We are 2 families (5 adults) who plan on using a private shuttle from Ljubljana to Venice June 23rd. It's in our best interest to book shuttle transport sooner rather than later. We would like to see a bit of Ljubljana and still get to Venice by 5:00PM. We really don't have a sense if this is a realistic plan or not. If it is we have no idea where we should consider booking the shuttle to pick us up. Any suggestions on a time line and/or shuttle stop location would be appreciated. Also has anyone had recent experience using the GoOpti shuttle service. We would love to hear from RS Best of Eastern Europe tour alumni. Thank you JoAnn
I haven't used GoOpti, but I hear good things about them in general. I have checked out their service but haven't wound up needing them. It seems that the sooner you book, in general, the better your price. Their prices are based on demand and availability.
Also, I think they charge a little less if your pick-up point is a common spot like the bus/train station in Ljubljana instead of some random spot in town. Presumably, you will have bags with you so would stow them there anyway while you spend time in Ljubljana. So that's where I would get the shuttle.
However, how much time are you really going to have in Ljubljana? Getting to Venice by 5PM means leaving Ljubljana about 2PM. GoOpti's cheapest service is a sliding time scale for shared shuttle service so you either have to accept a sliding departure time or pay more for an exact time. Visit their website to see what I mean. Telling them you want to arrive no later than 5PM means a pickup probably between 11AM-2PM or so. Or say you want to arrive no later than 7PM and hope it's earlier and just live with whatever time they give you (they tell you the exact pick-up time 24 hours before). Or pay a little more for a private transfer with a specific time.
Are you going to be in Ljubljana at all on the tour? Maybe it's not even worth the trouble going back for a few hours more unless you haven't seen it on the tour (but I think you do?). You could have GoOpti pick you up in Bled instead of Ljubljana.
Here's another possibility: take GoOpti from Bled say to Trieste, explore that town for a few hours, then take the train to Venice.
