Best of Adriatic- meet up for a food tour the day before?

Anyone on the June 18th - July 1 RS Best of the Adriatic tour who would like to meet up for this activity the day before? I contacted them to participate in their June 17, 4:30pm food tour. Dave on this forum had a great experience with them.

It’s a great way to get initiated into the city, and I like the chance to try a variety of food from several restaurants.

I'd put this in the tour section and add the date to the title for the best possibility of catching the attention of somebody on the tour.
Good luck!

Thanks, Liz! I will definitely do the food tour and thought it might be nice - especially for newer tour members, to have something fun planned if they’re arriving early.

I also checked the Ljubljana opera house for any ballets to attend. Unfortunately, that weekend is a performance of a children’s story ballet.

I might do a city bike tour, too. I’m arriving a few days early, flying from London, so I should have minimal jet lag.

I was going to do a Ljublijana food tour before my canceled Adriatic tour in 2020. Finally went last year, but my plans were different and didn't get there a day early. Food tours are still my favorite thing to do the first day in a city.

Hi, I'm Dave 🙂. I highly, highly recommend the food tour. Part gastronomy, part history. Great restaurants and other stops (like Ljubljana's favorite gelato spot and a library basement cafe for excellent espresso when I took the tour).

Carol, do you remember if the Friday market vendors prefer cash? I can bring a stash of smaller Euro bills & coins if that’s more the norm, such as a food fair booth or Bite of Seattle type food vendor set up. I will arrive in Ljubljana Friday.

@Jean, I used cash and didn’t try card so I don’t know. It was a lot of fun to go to. I was able to sample some new foods and ate at a table with a delightful family.

We are not on your tour dates but are going in the fall and am glad you mentioned this food tour and the idea itself. It looks like fun! We are arriving a couple days early and this could be a wonderful way to enjoy some of our time before the tour.

Thanks again!

You’re welcome, Jana!

I usually write up a trip report when I’m back, so look for one by mid-July which might give you some more ideas or feedback of what not to do! ; )

This sounds like a really fun idea. I am on the June 27 - July 10 tour and I think I will do the food tour. If anyone would like to join me, please let me know! Any other ideas before the tour? I'll be getting in either June 25 or 26. I hear a lot of things are closed on Monday so I'm looking for activities.

I’m also finding a few more options. The Ljubljana Festival is performing Mamma Mia the weekend I’m there; I was hoping for a classical concert, so I’m passing on this play since I’ve seen it. But, the Ljubljana Jazz Festival 2023 has tentative dates of June 14-17! Yeah, I could catch a Friday or Saturday evening event!

Just found a concert by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra for Friday night, June 16, and purchased a ticket.

Hi Taestrada,

Thanks for mentioning that option. Viator is just a middleman company, so here’s the company that runs that tour. Carol now retired shared it with me, and I booked it for my first full day I’m in Ljubljana. I also found a concert to attend the first night I’m there.
