Best means of travel from Lake Orta or Milan to Ljubljana

we are on a RS Italy Tour ending in Lake Orta, Italy and considering doing a back to back tour to the Best of the Adriatic. We dont want to fly from the last stop on the Italy tour (Lake Orta) to the first stop of the Adriatic tour (Ljubljana (sp?)). Anyone have any better suggestions such as a van shuttle service by chance? Company name?

Also, anyone who has done this tour, do you have any insights?
Thanks,

This (assume Village Italy?) is quite a wonderful tour and definitely the most experiential one I’ve taken. It seems as if there was something hands on to do at each stop. It’s also quite active, visiting mostly hill towns, but with a couple of lovely hot tub/swimming pool stays! We flew home from Milan and our guide arranged a shared shuttle from Lake Orta to the Milan airport. Maybe reconsider flying from there to Ljubljana? You have chosen two of my most favorite tours and I know you will love both! If I were you, I would try to take some down time between the two, either in Milan or Ljubljana (my favorite city!). The Adriatic tour is also very active and equally as wonderful! Have fun!

Andi: Thanks for the reply. We looked at flights from Milan to Ljubljana and the shortest was 9 hours....dont want to mess with that.

There is a shuttle device, Go Opti, from Venice airport to Ljubljana. It takes 2.5 hours. You would need to get to Milan train station, then take the train (about 3 hrs) to the Venice airport. Then take the shuttle to Ljubljana.

For convenience I would also consider a flight to Zagreb. Prior to our Adriatic tour we spent a week in Venice and took the GoOpti transfer to Ljubljana. It was a positive experience & affordable. The driver was prompt, and safe. GoOpti provides a short transfer from Zagreb as well. Ljubljana is our favorite city and we arrived 2 nights before our tour to relax and enjoy the vibe. We stayed our 2 nights at an apartment by the river. Wonderful tour!

If you can make it to the Milan Central train station, it looks like GoOpti can get you there, though that would be a long ride (about 5 hours). I've never used it, but many speak very positively of it as a way to get to Ljubljana.

I'll just add something to Andi's thoughts....the VI guide will start working on exit strategies on about Day 3 of the tour. You'll tell them if you want to go to Milan, to Malpensa Airport (which is closer to Orta than Milan is) or elsewhere. For those going to Malpensa or Milan, they will book a shuttle for you, perhaps grouping you with others from the group who are going to the same destination.

DO figure out your your Milan to Ljubljana but do NOT worry about getting out of Orta as that will be handled for you.
