I love Ljubljana - we've been there twice! It's a great small city that's easy to navigate. I enjoy the daily market along the river. The people are really friendly!

I would love to re-create the almond torte that we had for dessert at Julija's Restaurant. A really delicious chocolate cake with a layer of cherries, creamy filling, then covered in chocolate. It was memorable!

i love Lipica, home of Slovenia's Lipizzaners. For the horse crazy, it can be a magical overnight or weekend surrounded by white horses. There are training sessions, a farm tour, frequent competitions, and the every afternoon return of the herd from the pastures back to the barn.

For me it's the Soca Valley. My wife and I stayed in a wonderful B&B on a plateau near the town of Kobarid. Hiking opportunities are plentiful and the town has a great WW1 museum that is even more relevant with the 50th anniversary of the War coming this year. The crystal clear blue (and cold!) Soca River offers rafting opportunities and you are very close to Italy if you want to pop over the border for a day. The scenery in the Julian Alps is stunning and the people are great.
