Are there any recommendations for a place to stay in Piran on the coast of Slovenia? Cozy/charming hotel (not a motel 6 like operation) or BB? Does Rick recommend any? thanks, r. m.
I'd go on Booking.com and use the map feature - look for places in the center, hover over them on the map, read the reviews. Before you commit to a place, read its Trip Advisor reviews, too.
Back in 2011, I stayed in this place, the B&B Miracolo Di Mare:

It's a good budget option - not what you were seeking, I know, but for reference, it's fairly close to the car park on the edge of Piran (Piran is mostly car-free except for loading and unloading; you'll have to park it in the lot outside of town if you have a car). I had dropped my car in Portoroz and taken the local bus to Piran - which dropped me at the car park, so this place was an easy walk. Piran itself isn't that big, and I actually enjoyed the walk (could do it along the water or through an inner street) to the center of town. So even without a car it's not a bad place to stay, unless the 10 minute walk is not ideal for you. Staying close to the main square in town would probably be ideal, otherwise. Again, look on Booking.com (see if you can find B&B Miracolo Di Mare in Booking.com on the map, then you can compare it to the location of other places).
