I have already cross posted this in the Croatia forum so I'll keep this brief. My wife and I are planning our anniversary trip to the area for next summer. Our plans at this point aren't set and we are considering visiting Slovenia for a few days as part of our trip to the Adriatic. We aren't planning to rent a car and are looking for a driver and guide, either just the 2 of us or with a group at this point. I have contacted Slovenia Explorer about their services and am waiting to heard back. In the mean time, what are those must see places that are also more out of the way where we might run into fewer tourists? Where would you want to visit and what tips would you have? We like to be active and walking / hiking on a daily basis isn't an issue. We also like to experience the culture, cuisine and scenery of wherever we would visit. Just some possible places I have found so far include the Lake Bled area, Skocjan and Piran, Plitvice and Istrian Peninsula among others. We do like to get off the beaten path so wine tasting or similar would be of interest as well as Agri tourism if there offer that type of service like in some places in Italy. also, what tips do you have to help to stretch the budget?
