Adriatic Tour flights from Los Angeles area

I’m needing recommendations on how to get to Ljubljana with a return from Dubrovnik for the Adriatic tour. We will be leaving from the greater Los Angeles area. What connections in Europe exists? Any carriers to recommend either for flights and/or trains from other European cities?

Our tour begins October 1, 2023.

Go to Google Flights and fill in your flight request. Use the multi-city option (not one way or round trip). You will get all your options for flights.

And remember, you will more than likely arrive in Europe the day after you leave California. (Time zone difference.)

On the inbound trip you might want to consider flying into Zagreb, a nice city that's about 2-1/2 hours from Ljubljana by train or bus. Alternatively, you could check shuttle options offered by GoOpti. I know we have posters who've used that company to travel between Venice and Ljubljana, but it serves other cities as well.

Ljubljana has a small airport and since Adria's bankrupcy there aren't really a lot of flights there. So it might be worth looking at flights to e.g. Zagreb, Venice or Vienna. All much larger airports an easy train ride away. Even Munich can be an option.

Here is the section from the Rick Steves tour page on flights:

Flights
Our tours don't include airfare, so your flight arrangements and transfers are completely up to you.
Most tour members arrange to fly into Ljubljana (LJU) and out of Dubrovnik (DBV) — choose "multicity" on flight-booking websites. Booking round-trip to one city will require a connecting flight, train trip, or additional overnight stay in Croatia.
We suggest arriving a day or two before your tour begins to allow ample time to get over jet lag and be well-rested for the first few days of your tour. For more information about transportation options to get to and from your tour, see your Rick Steves Croatia & Slovenia guidebook.

I just ran a quick check via Google Flights routing you from LAX to LJU with a return from DBV. There are plenty of flights including several one stop flights on AF, BA, Turkish Airlines etc. Your return flights seem to want to route you back through Zagreb. Definitely add additional days to your trip for travel.

Hi, Judy!

I notice that these flights continue to be a big worry for you. What is your biggest concern? Is it price, ease of connections, or???

Not from LA but we are flying Lufthansa from Denver to Munich to Ljubljana to join the tour (late May) and then Lufthansa from Dubrovnik to Frankfurt to Denver.
