We will be in the area for a week in mid-June. Hoping to do some canyoning, rafting, WW2 museum. What else have people loved doing in that area? We'll have a car and enjoy outdoor activities, history, chilling, eating :)
The Kobarid Museum is a WWI museum and is excellent. The museum has guides that you can hire in advance for 30 euro for a 90 minute tour. This is worthwhile.
The museum offers guides for outdoor activities, too, at a very fair price. I did the Kobarid Historical Trail with a guide -- it was very good. Other outdoor tours look pretty cool, too.

Kolovrat was amazing. Both the big caves are in striking distance, definitely hit at least one. Also, the locals kind of have their spots. My host took me to an old stone bridge with folks jumping off and swimming right by the Italian border. Would never have found this on my own. So ask around.
