5 day 4 nights travel itinerary help

Hi,

I will be travelling to Slovenia from Munich in the first week of July 2017. I would have to attend a conference in Munich before going to Slovenia hence my return flight ticket has been booked by my company from KL (Malaysia) - Munich - KL. My interest lies in nature, hiking and off-beaten paths. Museum and churches are not really my interest unless it is really worth it to visit. My trip will be completely dependent on public transport.

Hence, this is my planned itinerary:

Day 1 - Reach Ljubjana at 12.30pm from Munich by bus and walk around Ljubjana
Day 2 - Day trip to Bled
Day 3 - Travel from Bled to Bohinj
Day 4 - Full day in Bohinj
Day 5 - Travel back to Ljubjana and catch the 3pm bus to Munich.

I would actually like to know if there is much I can do in Bohinj since i will be moving around Bohinj area by public transport. Also, would it be possible to do a short hike (2-4 hours) in Bohinj? Alternatively, should i skip Bohinj and spend more time in Ljubljana, Bled and visit Vintar Gorge?

Any advice on this plan?

Why have you planned to spend the whole of day 3 in transit? The distance between Bled and Bohinj is 30 km, the bus takes just 40 minutes. You can cetainly do a short hike in Bohinj. You may also be interested in visiting Mostnica Gorge while in Bohinj, a less-crowded version of the Vintgar Gorge, if you prefer off the beaten path places.

You can dedicate day 3 to Bohinj, too, there are myriad hiking opportunities there, or you could explore some other place. Some ideas to look into: Jezersko, Velika Planina or Kamniska Bistrica, all natural beauty spots that are not too difficult to reach by public transport from Ljubljana. You could also take a guided tour into the Soca Valley, as it is not practical to visit on your own given the short timeframe and reliance on public transport.

Thanks for the reply. I will look into the places you recommended near Bohinj. For day 3, I plan to take a morning transfer to Bohinj and spend a full day there. Again, will have to look into your recommendations to decide which activity I would like to do.
