4-5 day first trip to Slovenia with family looking for suggestions

Greetings,
We will be taking our first trip to Slovenia in June and I am looking for suggestions. Our kids are ages 12 and 14 and we love to walk/hike. We will be there for only 4 or 5 days (depending on if we use the in between day in Croatia or Slovenia as we will be in Croatia for a few days before driving north). I saw that there will be two Regattas on weekends in Lake Bled, so I'm hoping to make a midweek trip and crossing my fingers that the crowds won't be too bad).

Also wondering about the Julian Alps drive. I know you have to schedule a full day for this. Do you have time for stopping for some hikes or is it mostly driving with some breaks? Also, my daughter has a tendency to get car sick. Would this be too much for someone with this issue?

Any other suggestions and information would be appreciated. We will be staying just outside of Ljubljana and will have a car. Also, what should we be looking for to bring some from our trip (I have heard wine and honey)?

With the kids, visit Vintgar Gorge. Do the Slap Mostnice hike near Lake Bohinj. Definitely visit one or both of the caves plus Predjama Castle. The Alps are tricky - probably best with an overnight in a city like Tolmin or Kobarid. We did get very car sick when we have driven that area - had to pull over a few times for fresh air.

If you are basing yourself near Ljubljana, then you are looking at a lot of driving.

Thanks, Emily, for your tips. Do you think that it is possible to do Vintgar Gorge, a walk around Lake Bled and the Slap Mostnice hike in one day or is that too much? We will have a car, so don't need to rely on public transportation and are early risers. But I just don't know if finding parking is going to be a nightmare and adding lots of time and km. Vintgar Gorge opens at 8:00am. I read that there are two ways of exiting: an Alpine and a Forest trail. Do you have a recommendation as to which to choose? For a hike to Slap Mostnice the starting point is in Stara Fuzina, right? If it's just too much, I'm considering Vintgar Gorge, Lake Bled and maybe a bee museum later in the day. But would the Slap Mostnice hike be worth another day there? Are there other great things to do in the area? Thank you!

Definitely too much. It took us probably 8 hours to do Slap Mostnice RT.

I’m not sure about the Vintgar exits.

Thanks. We are currently looking into adding another couple of days. There are just too many beautiful things to do there. :) Or we will just have to plan to go back again.
