I was trying to get an idea of train times and prices between Bratislava and Krakow for a trip in September. I have put in different dates (including throughout April) and all of them come back with "can't book that journey". I don't know if those trains are full already, or what I am doing wrong. I have tried different websites. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Most train tickets are not available for purchase more than 90 days before departure.
Hi Cindy. What website are you using? I tried Trainline (handy, reliable site) for a random date of April 10 and see some journeys for sale. Perhaps others will have suggestions of other sites. Have a great trip!
Try this site: https://int.bahn.de/en.
I do see that there are trains available but I was trying to look at the specific direct train that leaves at 10:58 am. Maybe that train is just not available anymore?
I see the 10:58a departure from Bratislava for Sep 30 arriving in Krakow at 4:50p. I took the direct overnight from Bratislava and rented a sleeper car.
I have a similar question. I am looking to go from Bratislava main station to Poprad-Tatry in September. I am looking on the https://int.bahn.de/en/ site at the 11:34 departure which says it is "subject to compulsory reservation" for 1st class. If I look at dates in September, but even if I select a departure for next Monday 8 April, I see "train cannot be reserved at the moment." On the Trainline website, it will only give me bus options. Insights anyone?
That site does show the trains can't be reserved at this time.
However, if you go to the train operator you can buy tickets. I used the Austria rail network OBB.
But tickets for September won't be for sale yet.
Thank you Frank II. In fact if I go to https://www.zssk.sk/en/ic-trains/, I see I would be able to book tickets for April on that train, although not for September because it is too early. At least I've determined the process, that's a success!
Looking back at this post, I don't think that the OP's question was fully addressed. Here is a link to the Man in Seat 61's website which provides detailed instructions on how and where to purchase the Bratislava to Krakow train ticket - https://www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Bratislava.htm#Bratislava_to_Krakow
Also the bahn website listed above is the German railways website. They can give times for trains across Europe but can only sell tickets for trains within, or to and from Germany, for journeys which start or end in that Country.
