Any recommendations for a penzion-style lodging in Poprad, within walking distance to public transportation? And same question for Bratislava.

I agree that staying in Vysoke Tatry is the best, and we will be staying up there for some of our time. My favorite is Stary Smokovec. But we also want to see Bratislava, and will be doing some things in Poprad and just south of there (e.g., visiting relatives) and would like to cut transportation times for those days.

Nobody on this forum has ever stayed in Poprad, even Spišská Sobota? Or in Bratislava other than in the Marrol Boutique Hotel or the Arcadia Boutique Hotel? We prefer smaller family-run places but I'd also appreciate feedback from anyone who has stayed at the Ibis or the Gracia Botel in Bratislava.

Yes, Poprad once. I will look for the name., that's how memorable it was. After that I did the short commute from the hotel above.
