Bratislava for families

We’ve got 3-4 days in Bratislava in August before heading to Budapest. We have 2 daughters ages 10 and 15. We’d like to rent an apartment. What neighbourhoods are recommended? (And what to avoid?) I’ll probably use booking.com.

I stayed at the Elegant Escape Apartment in the City Centre and found it to be a great location. You're close enough to the main attractions in the city (about 1-2 miles away from everything in Old Town, Prague Castle, etc.) and there are a few charming coffee shops nearby. I walked everywhere during my visit—I do probably enjoy walking more than the average visitor—but never felt overwhelmed by the distance of anything, and more importantly, I felt safe everywhere I went, including when I was out at night.

The apartment itself was very nice! Comfy bed, washing machine for laundry, a lovely little outdoor patio area, and they had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for me when I arrived. Very affordable prices, as well. If the kids need to blow off a ton of steam, take a train to Vienna (about 50 minutes away) and let them run wild at Prater Wien.

I typed all this out before realizing this trip has already happened! But I'll leave it in case it helps someone else. I hope you enjoyed your stay—I really liked Bratislava and find it to be an underrated European city!

If for some reason after a day or two you have had enough of Bratislava, move to Gyor / Pannonhalma for a night or two. Come to think of it the Archabbey in Pannonhalma has rooms to rent.
