Planning to stay 3 nights in Bratislava between our trips to Budapest and Prague. Please suggest towns / villages / sights outside Bratislava which can easily be covered as day trips during this time. Thanks.
Vienna by train is about an hour; you certainly cannot see a city of that size in a single day, however.
Gyor, Hungary, can be reached by train in as little as 64 minutes, though it can also take nearly two hours. It has a pretty historic area and a bunch of small museums (many art-related) that I enjoyed, and the Pannonhalma Abbey is accessible by public bus.
Thanks for the input. We are flying out of Vienna. So have 2 nights there....Any hidden , must see...place in Slovakia ..close to Bratislava ?
We were only there for music, but can highly recommend the quality and value of the opera.
We stayed at Marrol's in an Executive Double Room. One of the best hotels/values we have experienced in 30+ years of travel. Lovely large bed, leather club chairs, desk, closet as well as bureau, modern bathroom and free mini bar. The included breakfast is spectacular, even includes a carving station. Its location is just as wonderful. It is just around the corner from the old square where the opera house, symphony hall and many restaurants are. However, it is on a quiet residential street which makes for serene sleep. https://www.hotelmarrols.sk/rooms-en
We loved Bratislava during our brief visit and will definitely return.
Three nights in Bratislava is about two nights to many. The city and surrounds can be seen in a day. Spend more time elsewhere.
