9 days in Slovakia (Sept 16 - Sept 24) itinerary suggestions

I am planning 9 days in Slovakia (Sept 16 - Sept 24) as part of a 9 week trip around Central Europe.
I will be arriving from Krakow and continuing to Budapest.
I am mostly interesting in input on the road trip after I pickup the rental car on Sept 18.
I have a rough schedule but am open to all suggestions and comments.

Slovakia (9 days)
(Sept 16) - Krakow (7:00) to Poprad (10:00), LEO Express - LEM4201

(Sept 16,17) Starý Smokovec

(Sept 18 - Sept 22) Car Rental Poprad to Poprad. Sept 18 am - Sept 22pm

Poprad to Orava Castle (1 1/2 hr)
to Cicmany (2 hr)
to Trencin (1 hr) 1 st night, Sept 18

Bojnice Castle
Banska Stiavnica 2nd night, Sept 19

to Krasna Horka Castle (2 1/2 hr)
to Kosice 3rd/4th night, Sept 20,21

Sept 22
to Spis Castle
to Levoca
Perhaps drive to Levoca the evening of Sept 21, then can visit Spis Castle and Levoca; making it back to Popard to catch the 15:26 train to Bratislava.

to Poprad - Return rental

So. I have decided to take the train to Kosice on Sept 18th and pickup the car there on Sept 19th and do a one-way rental to Bratislava. Hope to visit the same places... maybe try to add a stop in Vlkolínec.

Hi Fred -
I'd be interested in how your itinerary played out, especially for your time (if only 24 hours) in Kosice. I'm contemplating attending the 2019 World Hockey Championship prelims for Group A (includes the US and Canada) which Kosice will host.

I can't offer any advice but will be following your thread.
My husband's grandfather is from Cicmany and a visit there is on the bucket list.
I would love to hear about your visit after your trip.

I will be there in the beginning of September, 6 to 9th. I'm going from krakow to oravsky castle then to bojnice then to trencin. I hope you have a great time

Hi Fred,

When you are in Slovakia, then Tatra mountains are a must-see. :) Slovakia is actually mountainous country and Tatras are the biggest attraction in the area.

Please consider visiting Štrbské Pleso - beautiful mountain village located over the lake (lake's name is the same as the village's).
