Which seven day itinerary makes the most sense?

Hi friends! My family of 5 - inc. two teens and a husband who wants some times to relax - have seven full days in Scotland in August. Were spending the first three nights in Eburgh. I'm having trouble deciding what to do next. (We’re renting a car). We are keen on
light hikes, beautiful vistas, castles and lighthouses, historical sites, awesome tours and mainly authentic experiences for the kids. (think fishing, golf lesson, archery, cow sightings, farm experiences, canoeing, hands-on, off the beaten path stuff.) Not interested in another city experience, need a slower pace, but still want to see what we can w/out spending hours upon hours in the car. Not interested in staying overnight in more than two places need to end up in Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen to fly out.

  • Should we drive to Inverness for two nights and then Glencoe for two? Is Inverness worth it? I did find a cool farm to stay at near Inv.
  • Head straight over to Isle of Skye? (or Isle Mull or another just as captivating that won't be as crowded?)
  • Spend all our time in Glencoe area? Oban?
  • other ideas?

Looking for the hidden gems! It’s August, so would prefer to avoid the crowds, stopped traffic (except for animals), and the cheesy, touristy spots. Would also love tour/experience suggestions! And best tour operators and where to book!
