Which Edinburgh hotel? Hotel Indigo on Princes St. or Wilde Aparthotels Staycity in Grassmarket

We are trying to decide between 2 hotels for our stay in Edinburgh this August. We are visiting specifically for the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe festival. We're happy to be in the middle of the action but since we'll be staying for several days we'd like something that is comfortable for 3 adults. Appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks!

Thanks for asking- I didn't realize. It's the Hotel Indigo Princes Street. I believe it's between old and new town.

The aparthotel will give you a kitchen area and a communal space so I’d think that would be a great choice for 3 adults. Edinburgh is very busy during the festival so it might be handy at times to be able to make some simple meals. Location is a matter of personal choice really. They’re only 15 minutes walk from each other.

I’d veer towards the Staycity Aparthotel. Edinburgh can feel like absolute madness in August and it can be nice to have facilities to cook your own meals.

You’re a step away from the madness there - as soon as you get onto Grassmarket itself, someone will stick a flyer in your hand and invite you to their show, but it’s a good area.

But the Hotel Indigo looks like it is bang opposite Waverley Station and I find that road crossing in August is incredibly stressful and busy and feels like everyone in the city is there.

I haven't stayed at either hotel--I have stayed at the other Indigo--but I would probably lean toward the Aparthotel for the same reasons already mentioned.

We are staying at the Wilde Aparthotels Aug10-13 with the RS tour. I called about extending one evening and the price is crazy, just so you are aware (496 GBP). And they didn't seem to be able to guarantee we could keep our same room with two twins. If you are planning to book there, definitely contact them soon. We ended up deciding to move locations for our last night to stay at Ten Hill Place right near some of the Fringe venues.

Thanks Christie- everything is super expensive in August there but we did book a while ago so the price is locked in. Have a great trip!
